Why groom your dog?

  • Grooming your dog leaves the coat clean, healthy and fresh by removing shedding hair, elimiating the causes of pet discomfort and unwanted odours - regular grooming eliminates the risk of matting. Matting of the coat is obviously unattractive, but more importantly it limits the skin exposure to the air, leaving your pet prone to infections. De-matting is a vital pre groom procedure because once matting gets wet, it will become tight and even more difficult to remove.
  • Frequent grooming also provides an opportunity to examine your pet on a regular basis for any lumps, bumps, skin problems or early signs of illness that may require veterinary attention.
  • Nail trimming is a must. Broken nails are very painful for the pet and will bleed. Long nails over time will effect the structure of your pets feet and make life difficult for your dog when walking. In extreme cases long nails can also curl and grow into the dogs paws. Obviously you need to avoid this happening.
  • Ear cleaning and plucking is also a must as this keeps the ear canal open, allowing air circulation and preventing infection.
